About
Gail Williams - Artist
I am always doing what I cannot do yet in order to learn how to do it."
Vincent van Gogh
I grew up in the noisy chaos of a household with seven siblings where quiet was rare and creativity became my refuge. Art gave me a sense of control and calm. It was a place where I could express myself freely, away from the distractions and demands of life. Although I believed I was destined for art school, life led me in a different direction. I raised a family while working as a Radiation Therapist, pursuing art classes as a creative outlet in my spare time.
Upon transitioning to life as a professional artist, my work began to appear in collections across Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
In Toronto, my paintings have been exhibited at Propeller Gallery, Studio888, Elaine Fleck Gallery, Jackalope Gallery, and Leslie Grove Gallery. My work has also been shown at Taren White Gallery in Paris, Ontario; Melt Gallery in Prince Edward County; and the Anishinaabe Gallery in Thunder Bay. I have also exhibited at Cobalt Gallery, Restoration Art, Yellow House Framing and Blossom & Tempest. I have participated in art fairs such as Riverdale Artwalk and the Rosedale Outdoor Art Show on numerous occasions.
For eight years, I organized a successful holiday market featuring local artists and artisans.
In 2024, I partnered with the Jackalope Art Gallery in Toronto, where I curated exhibitions, juried submissions, and managed gallery operations on a day to day basis.
A career highlight was being selected for the prestigious Salt Spring National Art prize in 2019 as well as presenting a position paper on Art & The Healthcare Worker in Helsinki, Finland at the Society of Radiologists and Radiographers Conference in 2014.
